For those who suffer from back pain, sleep apnea, snoring, digestive issues, and blood circulation problems, a good sleep can be rare. Good sleeping is essential for overall health, so when you aren’t sleeping properly it can cause serious issues and make daily life difficult. Adjustable beds allow changes on your sleeping position to exactly what you need. This means you can incline or recline the head and legs, lift head or legs upright or lie completely flat.

Here are the benefits on how a good sleep improves your health using an adjustable bed:

Back Pain

Sleeping on an adjustable bed allows different sleeping positions that more closely matches the contours of the body. This means keeping that back flatter to the mattress resulting to a good sleep. This helps prevent conditions like sciatica – an issue where the sciatic nerve gets trapped between the brain and limbs, causing serious pain under pressure. When the base of the spine is supported, it will stay aligned, prevent trapped nerves and release those that are currently stuck. If you already have sciatica, you might find that this adjustable beds will help relieve the back pain.

You can also increase the incline to reduce some of the pressure that causes your back to compress during the night. This will prevent you from waking up and causing further injury while the spine is vulnerable. You will also be able to support your head better when using an adjustable bed. So you do not need to pile up pillows and cause neck pain or headaches.

Sleep Apnea and Snoring

When snoring, just incline the adjustable bed and it will help improve your sleep apnea and snoring. One of the major causes of snoring is the windpipe closing due to the weight of your neck. This results in the air making a snoring sound as it passes through. Propping yourself slightly upright can alter the direction of the gravity so it doesn’t obstruct the windpipe. This will help in reducing the sound of snoring and improve a night’s good sleep and sleep quality.

For those who snore due to sleep apnea, this is particularly effective. This is a condition where the individual wakes up throughout the night because breathing stops. This can severely damage sleep quality and becomes dangerous when breathing stops for too long. Altering sleeping positions will not stop sleep apnea, but rather it can improve some types of obstructive apnea.

Digestive Issues

Acid reflux and heartburn can be relieved with an adjustable bed, as it helps your body to process food during the night. While it is not advisable to sleep on a full stomach after eating within the last few hours, adjusting sleeping position can be helpful. An adjustable bed will allow you to position yourself at the recommended 6 inches upright and encourage healthy digestion.

Circulation and Swelling

Sprain, pulled or broken limbs need to be elevated to lessen the pain. An adjustable bed will give that leg a better elevation than a pillow or cushion can offer. This helps reduce the swelling through the night. Those who work on their feet all day can also benefit from this if they come home and find their lower legs and feet swollen. Elevating the legs will help them feel better in general while combating problems like varicose veins. Varicose veins form when blood pools in lower veins of the limbs due to prolonged standing.
