At Disability Equip Online (DEO), we know that major sporting events can be exciting, loud, and full of energy — but for neurodivergent individuals, they can also be overwhelming. That’s why we’re passionate about the importance of sensory zones, sometimes called safe zones, at stadiums and arenas across the country.

A safe zone is more than just a quiet room. It's a carefully designed space where individuals can decompress, regulate their senses, and take a break from the sensory overload that often comes with packed crowds, bright lights, and booming noise. For many neurodivergent people — including those with ADHD, autism, or sensory processing challenges — having access to this kind of space can mean the difference between enjoying the event and needing to leave early.

These zones offer calm, comfort, and dignity. They’re not a luxury — they’re a necessity. And the good news is, more event organizers are listening and including sensory-friendly spaces in their planning.

At DEO, we champion these changes because we believe everyone deserves to feel included and supported — especially in places designed to bring people together.

Let’s make safe zones the standard, not the exception.

Until Next Time, Live Your Best Life.
