The Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway is a durable, washable tactile sensory mat designed to encourage movement, sensory exploration, body awareness and active participation in education, therapy, home and community environments.

Its narrow 31cm width makes this version particularly useful for group sensory activities, allowing multiple people to walk over the walkway as part of a shared sensory pathway or movement experience. Rather than requiring each participant to use a separate sensory mat, the long, continuous surface provides an opportunity for several walkers to move along the same tactile pathway.

The Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway measures 173cm long x 31cm wide x 2.5cm high and features a high-density, three-layer EVA foam construction with 1,120 Acu-Cones. The raised textured surface provides pronounced tactile stimulation underfoot, creating an active sensory experience as users walk across the mat.

The walkway can be incorporated into sensory pathways, gross motor circuits, movement stations and inclusive group activities. Educators, therapists and support workers can encourage users to walk across the surface at their own pace or incorporate it into structured movement activities.

For occupational therapists and allied health professionals, the Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway can provide opportunities to incorporate tactile and sensory-motor experiences into therapy and functional activities. It can be used alongside other movement and sensory resources to encourage exploration of tactile feedback, body awareness, balance and coordination.

In schools and early learning environments, the narrow format is especially practical for shared sensory pathways. Several participants can engage with the walkway as part of a group activity, encouraging movement, turn-taking, observation and social participation.

The walkway can also be incorporated into indoor movement circuits where users progress from one sensory surface or activity to another. Its continuous design allows the sensory experience to become part of a broader movement routine rather than a standalone activity.

The washable construction makes the Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway practical for shared environments where equipment is used regularly. When not in use, it can be rolled for more compact storage, with a rolled diameter of approximately 23cm.

The walkway can also be used in alternative applications where appropriate. It may be positioned against a suitable wall to provide tactile stimulation when securely mounted, offering another way to incorporate the product into a sensory environment.

For individual activities, the walkway can also be cut into smaller sections where appropriate, allowing the tactile surface to be incorporated into selected workstations or activity areas.

The Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway is an adaptable sensory resource for organisations looking to create opportunities for group participation, tactile exploration, purposeful movement and sensory-rich learning.

  • The product is a sensory and movement resource and is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure a medical condition.

Why Choose the Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway?

The Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway offers an important advantage for schools, therapy practices and sensory environments where group participation is a priority.

Its 173cm x 31cm format creates a long, narrow tactile pathway that can be incorporated into shared movement activities. Multiple walkers can move over the surface as part of a group experience, making it particularly useful where educators or therapists want to encourage sensory exploration without providing a separate mat for every participant.

The 1,120 raised Acu-Cones provide a strong textured sensation underfoot, creating opportunities for tactile exploration while users move along the walkway.

For occupational therapists and allied health professionals, the Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway can be incorporated into sensory-motor activities involving movement, balance, coordination and body awareness.

For educators, it provides an easy way to introduce tactile experiences into group movement circuits, sensory pathways and inclusive activities. The shared format can also encourage turn-taking, following instructions and participating alongside peers.

Its washable construction is well suited to environments where multiple people use the same equipment, while the compact rolled diameter of approximately 23cm makes it relatively easy to store between activities.

The Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway can also be used beyond the floor when appropriately secured, providing the flexibility to create a tactile wall experience. Where suitable, it can also be adapted into smaller sections for individual applications.

For DEO customers creating sensory-friendly classrooms, therapy spaces, inclusive learning environments and community sensory areas, the Acupro Acumat® Narrow Sensory Walkway provides a flexible solution that supports sensory exploration while encouraging shared movement and participation.
