Sensory Light Boxes - Extra Bright can be beneficial for children with disabilities for several reasons, as they can provide therapeutic and educational advantages. Here are some of the reasons why light boxes can be beneficial for children with disabilities:

  1. Visual Stimulation: Light boxes offer bright, visually engaging stimuli that can capture a child's attention. This can be particularly helpful for children with sensory processing disorders or visual impairments, as it provides a controlled and visually stimulating environment.

  2. Sensory Integration: For children with sensory processing difficulties, light boxes can help them regulate their sensory input. The even, consistent light can be soothing and help children process sensory information more effectively.

  3. Visual Tracking: Light boxes can be used to encourage and improve a child's ability to track objects visually. This is crucial for developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and reading readiness.

  4. Therapeutic Activities: Occupational therapists often use light boxes as a tool for various therapeutic activities. For example, they can use translucent materials, puzzles, or tracing activities on the light box to promote fine motor skills and hand dexterity.

  5. Educational Tool: Light boxes can be used to enhance learning experiences for children with disabilities. They can be employed for activities like tracing letters and numbers, creating art, or exploring geometric shapes. This can be especially useful for children with learning disabilities.

  6. Behavioral Support: Some children with disabilities may exhibit challenging behaviors. A light box can serve as a calming and distraction-reducing tool, helping to manage behaviors related to anxiety, hyperactivity, or sensory overload.

  7. Visual Discrimination: Light boxes can assist in improving a child's ability to visually discriminate between different objects, colors, and shapes, which is essential for cognitive and perceptual development.

  8. Communication Aids: Light boxes can be used to create visual communication aids such as communication boards or symbol systems, which can be valuable for children with communication disorders.

  9. Encouragement of Creativity: Light boxes can encourage creativity and self-expression. Children can use them for drawing, coloring, and crafting, which can boost self-esteem and confidence.

  10. Positive Sensory Experience: For some children with disabilities, sensory experiences can be overwhelming or distressing. A light box provides a controlled and positive sensory experience, which can help desensitize them to various stimuli over time.

It's important to note that the effectiveness of light boxes for children with disabilities may vary depending on the individual child's needs and preferences. It's recommended to work closely with educators, therapists, and healthcare professionals to determine the most appropriate and beneficial ways to incorporate light boxes into a child's therapy or educational plan.

Wouldn’t buy from this company

After a 3 month wait for the product (not bought under pre-order status) the Lightbox ended up being sent via Teachable, where it’s being sold for $20 less than what I paid DeO. This felt misleading and disappointing, as I expected a more reliable experience from this company, especially given the nature of the purchase.

I will purchase my child’s disability equipment from a different provider in the future.

Dear Hana,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your review. Customer feedback is invaluable in helping us improve our service, which remains a top priority at DEO.

First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the delay in delivering your lightbox.

Stock Availability
As stated on our website, we strive to keep our stock levels updated as accurately as possible. Stock is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. In cases where demand exceeds available stock, orders may be delayed until the next shipment arrives.

The product you ordered is an imported item, and unfortunately, we are dependent on freight carriers and their logistics. Any delays in their Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) inevitably affect our ability to provide an accurate ETA to our customers.

Customer Communications
Whenever there is a delay in product availability, we make every effort to notify our customers promptly and offer a no-obligation refund if they are unable or unwilling to wait.

Our records show that we contacted you regarding delays on the following dates:

20/09/2024
25/09/2024
18/10/2024
Additionally, when we were informed of further delays, we reached out again on 12/11/2024. At each point, we provided the updated ETA from our supplier and reiterated the option for a refund.

When the product arrived at our warehouse on 13/12/2024, we immediately dispatched it to you.

Price Difference
We understand your frustration regarding the $20.00 price difference. While we strive to maintain competitive pricing, we are bound by the supplier’s Recommended Retail Price (RRP), which can change unexpectedly. We sincerely apologize for not addressing this discrepancy sooner.

Please know that if you had reached out in response to any of our emails, we would have been happy to refund the difference as a gesture of goodwill.

Customer Experience
It is disheartening to learn that you felt misled, despite our consistent efforts to communicate updates and offer solutions.

We were also disappointed to see a public 1-star review, as we are deeply committed to resolving issues directly with our customers whenever possible.

As a company founded by individuals with a personal connection to the disability community and decades of experience in education, we take great pride in providing high-quality products and services to our customers.

While we understand your decision to seek alternative suppliers in the future, we remain committed to improving and providing the best possible experience for all our customers.

We wish you all the best and thank you again for your feedback.
